Newbies Mark Ganem Posted November 17, 2004 Newbies Posted November 17, 2004 I am using a USB flash drive (Kingston DataTraveler 516kb) to transfer files between an OSX 10.2 (Panther) computer and one running OS9.2. I have two intermittant problems. 1) sometimes a file becomes corrupted (whether read directly off the flash drive or transferred to harddrive) and must be restored, and 2) sometimes when I try to open a file, I get "Filemaker cannot read this drive" - no matter what drive it's reading from. (and it will have no problem reading other files on the same drive) Sometimes recovering those files restores access, but usually not. Again, these problems are intermittant and I can't find a common source. Any suggestions? Mark
CoZiMan Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 A. How was it formatted? B. Have you tried using a compression (zip/stuffit/img) format as a wrapper? (These include algorithyms for accuracy of data.) HTH
Vaughan Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Make extra sure that the file is NOT open in FMP before you copy it. The recover command is only for getting DATA out of FMP files. Do not continue to use recovered files: get a known-good clone of the file and import the data from the recovered file.
