Hi,

I'm quite new to FM but worked my way through the basics I think.

My problem is the following:

I would like to insert a list of filenames of images (e.g. world.jpg) which, when clicked, open in the appropriate application (e.g. Photoshop).

Actually it should look like the list-view in the explorer and behave the same.

I used a container field and inserted a file as symbol. But this way I always have the symbol (surprise, surprise) in the form, which would make a longer list of files pretty big.

Can anyone help me with this?? Thanks!

Have you tried making the field so it's only as high as the name, like a regular field? I get just the name at that point, and it still works to double-click to open. You can also assign the script step "Go to Field, Select/perform option" and it will open with a single click. It does have to be enterable however, and it must be a referenced file, ie., not totally embedded.

Thanks for your answer.

Nope, this doesn't work. Once I change the size of the field, the complete icon with the filename shrinks to still fit the fieldsize making it impossible to read the filename. Changing the Graphic Format is no help either. Sure it will stop reducing or enlarging but the field is not focused on the filename then.

I get the correct result once I insert a File instead of an object (I wrote it wrong in the first post, I inserted an object there) into the container field. Then I can resize the field without trouble, but then it won't open the image on double or single click (with the Go to Field).

Maybe there is something wrong with my Filemaker because I noticed something else strange: Activating the alternative background for a layout body, does have no results at all in my forms. Even though it stays changed in the Part setup menu.

//Regarding the background problem I found out that I am able to change the color by right clicking on the body icon. But still it won't work through the Part setup menu. Strange but it'll work for me..
