SteveS Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 I am a developer and have many end user clients currently using earlier versions of FileMaker Pro. I want to upgrade to the most recent version (7.0 Developer Edition). Is it true that FileMaker Pro Developer 7.0 is only compatable with Windows XP operating systems and not compatible with any other Windows operating systems? If this is true, why would any developer want to upgrade?
Vaughan Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 FMP 7 works with Windows 2000 and later. Not sure about WinNT, but it definately does not work with Win98 and earlier. Developers want to upgrade because FMP 7 has many more features than FMP 6. Besides that, there will come a day when FMP 6 is no longer compatible with the latest hardware or operating systems.
Newbies Kazunori Posted December 20, 2004 Newbies Posted December 20, 2004 It is theoretically possible to install FileMaker Pro Dev7 on Win98 by putting in Win2000/WinXP in VirtualPC , if practicality is disregarded. (However, I have not checked the operation.)
