Newbies GregHill Posted December 9, 2004 Newbies Posted December 9, 2004 I have a script that works fine except for the feild selection that is used with the export dialog. I want it to run unattended and use the same fields everytime. I have about 200 fields in the table but I only want to output 35 or so. It is very time consuming to select them all and get them in proper order and not be able to save them in that order. script looks like: Find Export Find Export ....... Please help. Thank you in advance. Greg Hill
Fenton Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 I'm not sure what your question or problem is. If you export once manually correct, then create an script with 1 Export step, it will remember the order (don't delete fields afterwards, unless you're sure they are AFTER exported fields in CREATION ORDER). If you tried the script above, with the same Export script (duplicated) several times, it will export the same. But it will not work if you expect it to store different export orders. Only one export step's order can be saved for each script, in version 6. It could also be that you didn't "save" the export order correctly. If you already have an (incorrect) export order, then you do a correct manual export, you have to open the script with the export step again, and click "Replace export order" when the dialog pops up (after choosing "no dialog" first, etc.). It has to be done in that order, and you can't miss that last "Replace" radio button. It's somewhat annoying, yes; that's why they fixed it in version 7, so you can see and change everything right there in the Export step.
Newbies GregHill Posted December 9, 2004 Author Newbies Posted December 9, 2004 Got it resolved. But still don't really understand the question that is asked when saving a script. Keep Existing changes? or Replace Changes (something to that effect) Don't know what I am replacing or keeping. I would assume it is the changes that I just made to the script but obviously it is something about the system environment. Greg Hill
Newbies GregHill Posted December 9, 2004 Author Newbies Posted December 9, 2004 Ok, that clairifies what I did. I think what screwed me up was that question about replace or keep. I had changed the export order a few times but didn't answer the question properly and I was also not sure if Restore Export Order meant restore if from the way it was originally saved or from the last export. It was ugly for a while but I understand it now. Thank you. Greg Hill
