I need to be able to import from a text file into a repeating field - I know I can use tab, for example, to separate field entries, return to indicate a new record.

What do I use to separate items going into repeating fields?

Start by NOT using repeating fields. I am nearly positive that you really want related data. Thus create some related files to store the data.

It is not possible to import into or export out of a repeating field.
