BrentHedden Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 I've got Server 5.5 on a Windows server box. I'm hosting serveral files on it, and everything is A-OK. All of the hosted files were constructed using Dev. 6. I recently modified one of the files so that it can export the contents of a field to a plain text file. I has to use a XSL stylesheet to export the text correctly (look at this post for more info concerning that) - http://www.fmforums.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=UBB13&Number=132991 I'm able to open all of the other files fine, but this new XSL file just refuses to be opened. I made sure in the properties of Server that the file extension was in the 'Registered File Types", but to no avail. I even tried to be slick about it and change the extension to the same extension as all of the other files. That just wasted time. The only thing that comes to mind is that this XSL file is a text, not FM file. If this is the problem, any idea on how to get around it and make it work? I'm figuring that FMS can only host FM files, of which I guess it never came across my mind as a stumbling block, since this is the first time I've ever used XSL sheets and the such. On a better note, the files function fine if I open them up using Filemaker Pro on a standalone computer. Any ideas/help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated :
Wim Decorte Posted December 11, 2004 Posted December 11, 2004 FMS can only host filemaker files. The registered extension is for filemaker runtime files. You have to make your XSL file available in an OS shared folder and point the export properties there so it can be found by all users. All users need read access privileges on that folder. For best results, when you set up the export in fm, point to the full UNC path of where the XSL file is, not to a mapped drive. If you use a mapped drive you'll need to worry that the folder is mapped in the same way on all workstations.
BrentHedden Posted December 13, 2004 Author Posted December 13, 2004 That's what I was suspecting. Thanks for the insight.
