December 11, 200421 yr This will have been asked about before, but I can not find the answer. How do I tab out of a field and automatically run a script. Tab is the only way out of the field because tab is programmed into a bar code reader. Presently a button is used to start the script, but it would be nice to have it run automatically. The layout has only the one data input (text) field and the script button on it. Any suggestions ? rex
December 11, 200421 yr This questions come up from time to time, I just did a seach for these words right out of your post +automatically +run +script (all forums, blank in weeks) and got two 200 hits (max that will be returned). This This Thread seems to have your answer. HTH Lee
December 12, 200421 yr Author Thanks Lee, It seems Nightwing has the answer, to quote "As to the more general question, it's true that FMP doesn't provide script triggering on field exit like some other apps do." It is not worth my while spending time figuring out what should be a seemingly simple step, or purchasing a plug-in to save one mouse-click. What's the betting FM present this as a great new feature in some future version? Rex
December 12, 200421 yr Thanks Lee, It seems Nightwing has the answer, to quote "As to the more general question, it's true that FMP doesn't provide script triggering on field exit like some other apps do." He always does. It is not worth my while spending time figuring out what should be a seemingly simple step, or purchasing a plug-in to save one mouse-click. I agree, it seems that the user needs to learn a little something when using the solutions. What's the betting FM present this as a great new feature in some future version? It's only been requested by all us since the beginning of time (well the beginning of our time working with FileMaker anyway). There isn't a doubt in my mind that this feature should have, could have, and would have been included in FileMaker a long time ago if it had been politically correct for them to do so. Lee
