What is the correct function to put in a calculation field(Field2) that will extract the first letter from each of two words in a name field (Field1) that has a first and last names separated by a space?

Example Field1 = John Doe; Field2= JD.

Help please

Left ( LeftWord (Field1 ; 1 ) ; 1) is the first letter of the first word

Left ( RightWord (Field1 ; 1 ) ; 1) is the first letter of the last word

so put them together

Left ( LeftWord (Field1 ; 1 ) ; 1) & Left ( RightWord (Field1 ; 1 ) ; 1)

Or, a custom funtion that will do it for a field with an arbitrary number of words:

Initials( String ) =

Case(

  String = "",

  "",

  Left( LeftWord( String, 1 ) ) & Initials( RightWords( String, WordCount( String ) - 1 )

)
