December 16, 200421 yr Here is a riddle. I am running Filemaker Advanced Server 7. I use Frontpage for our currently static web site. I use a Linux box to serve my web pages. I will have an SSL certificate shortly and I use Authorize net as my payment processor. I currently use Filemaker along with Waves in Motion Eauthorize to run credit cards directly from my FM DB. Objective: To make or find a pre-made shopping cart that will work with FM and Frontpage, so that site visitors can purchase directly online, rather than calling us to order. Please, Please, PLease help! I have searched this forum, but without any luck. I dont know too much about PHP or anything fancy. I like FM and Frontpage because they are both really easy for me to use.
December 16, 200421 yr I am trying to figure out how to connect to FM Advanced Server 7 via Frontpage. Any tips on how I can get connected? John
December 18, 200421 yr Author Someone told me lasso is a good way to solve this problem. What does everyone think? I have advanced server 7. Isn't that supposed to be the best thing available and shouldnt that offer me some sort of a way to make my own shopping cart? This isnt such an odd request. There must be some way to use filemaker advanced 7 server to integrate it into an ecommerce web site. Please, please, please help!
December 21, 200421 yr Objective: To make or find a pre-made shopping cart that will work with FM and Frontpage, so that site visitors can purchase directly online, rather than calling us to order. Well, it depends on what you mean by "will work with." Using FM Server Advanced, your web publishing capabilities are very different than they were with earlier versions of FileMaker that used CDML. There are countless web shopping carts available, most of which could probably be modified somehow to work with FileMaker, at least indirectly. If you mean a shopping cart that's based on FileMaker, you've got a much more limited choice, but there are certainly options available. Here are two... http://www.briandunning.com/weblets/shopping/ http://www.fmwebschool.com/maindisplay.htm As for FrontPage, I consider it a monstrosity, but you could probably use it to edit your web page content if you want to. However FrontPage is targetted at Microsoft products, ASP, IIS, and Internet Explorer. It's probably not the best tool for developing the XML-based content associated with Custom Web Publishing.
December 23, 200421 yr Author Well, actually the web site is already built in Frontpage. I would love to switch to something like Dreamweaver. Does Dreamweaver offer me more options to integrate with a Filemaker based shopping cart? I spoke to Filemaker and since I have the advanced server version, I was thinking of buying an SSL for my server and to use something like the TROI plug-in and/or XML to enter form data into FM. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
