Duplicating records vs. creating new records

Featured Replies

I have a couple of tables that are related to each other...the layouts share 3 or 4 fields...a strange thing is happening - when I create a record in LayoutA from scratch, all the information is automatically filled in the fields in LayoutB as designed & expected.

However, when I create a new record in Table A by duplicating the previous record and then modify the existing data in the duplicated record (some/most of which is the same as the previous record, which is why I duplicate the record in the first place, to save myself a bunch of redundant data entry), the duplicated information is not automatically filled in fields in Table B. Why would this be happening ?

Related records are not automatically created when a parent record is duplicated. See here for a technique to do that.
