rhiannon Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Hi I keep encountering a serach error the first time I try to search in a calculated field. The field is a calculation - Writer 1 Name & " " & Writer 2 Name & " " & Writer 3 Name & " " & Writer 4 Name & " " & Writer 5 Name & " " & Writer 6 Name & " " & Chair Name I want to be able to search on any of the writer's names but the fist time I try the search I always get a message saying that there is no valid criteria in the request - when I modify the find by typing in the exact same thing the results come up perfectly. Any suggestions? R
-Queue- Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Is this a manual or scripted find? If scripted, what does your script look like? Beware that FM 6 only indexes up to 60 characters per line, 20 characters at a time. Writers 5 and 6 may seldom be indexed and Chair Name may never be, depending on the length of Writers 1 - 4, etc.
rhiannon Posted December 21, 2004 Author Posted December 21, 2004 The find script is just; Peform Find [Restore, Replace Found Set] Go to Layout ["Results Page"] I have realised that I am having the same problem for all fields, not just the calculation field.
rhiannon Posted December 21, 2004 Author Posted December 21, 2004 Thanks....the problem seems to have corrected itself
jkrier Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 I have the same issue doing a find on a calculated field. We are on FM7. The first time I do the search, it immediately says no records found. The second time it works. It just started happening. Did you report the issue to FileMaker?
-Queue- Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Has the record been committed before the search is performed?
jkrier Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 Yes, it was a Find on data that has been there for a while. It immediately said no records were found the first time. The second time it went into the Find processing. The problem is no longer happening. I restarted FM Server. Very strange.
