Newbies liteguy Posted December 30, 2004 Newbies Posted December 30, 2004 Greetings and Happy Holidays. I'm having a, hopefully, small and easily correctable problem. I have two databases. One that i used for one project, the second created for another project. I created the second database by making a duplicate of the first and then making the needed changes. After a couple uses of the 2nd database, i opened the file and it all the fields read <missing table>. I haven't changed the location of the files on my hard drive. I haven't messed with relationships either. When going to "layout", I tried double clicking a field, and applying the select field command. Once the new window opened, i had to select the table and then the field names appeared. Once selecting the field name and returning to Browse mode, the field then reads <unrelated table>. In going to define fields, it shows the table name, tells me i have 698 fields, 103 records. I'm very confused. Hopefully i contributed enough information to retrieve a solution. Thanks in advance. Bryan O.
transpower Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 In Layout Setup, Show Records From [your correct table].
Ender Posted December 30, 2004 Posted December 30, 2004 Welcome Bryan, You may have inadvertantly removed the table occurace that that layout is based on or you may have changed the relationships between table occuraces so that the layout's table occurace is no longer connected to the fields' table occurace. Check that the relationship graph is complete. Then check that the layout and fields are based on the correct tables.
Newbies liteguy Posted December 30, 2004 Author Newbies Posted December 30, 2004 Thank you very much for your help. I knew it was something simple, but i don't use FM enough to know the insides and outs. I went to Layout Setup, associated the records with the correct table and it recognizes it just fine. The one thing i'm noticing is that I will have to reassociate each field individually with the correct field name manually. Is this correct or is there a quick fix to this problem?? Sorry, if i'm using incorrect terms. Thanks again for your help. Bryan
Ender Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Yes, if the table occurance for a layout is deleted, the fields need to be manually reset.
Newbies liteguy Posted December 31, 2004 Author Newbies Posted December 31, 2004 Thank you everyone for your help. I'm slowly but surely recovering the file. Have a great and safe 2005!! Bryan
