FM Server 7 Remote Admin over VPN

Featured Replies

  • Newbies

I installed FM Server 7 on a Mac OS X operating system for a client of mine. The users access the database remotely over a VPN connection. I enabled Remote Admin on the server, and installed FM Server Admin on my (remote) machine. I then established a VPN connection and tried to connect to the server with FM Server Admin, giving the same IP address as the one that we use to access the database. I get a "Could not connect" message.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated.

Thanks,

SH

i have the same problem too. i can use the databases, but not connect the admin, when the firewall of my xserve is on. i opened the ports 5003, 50003, 60003 and 20003, both in tcp and udp, but it did not work.

do you have installed a firewall ?

I belive this problem does not only occour when using VPN. I have the same problem. First of all, you need to open the following ports. Please be aware that there is an error in the FMS documentation.

5003 filemaker database

50003 Filemaker server admin

50006 Filemaker server admin

I have tried with the firewall turned off, with port forwarding for all ports from the router to FMS, and I have not succeed yet. This problem only occour when trying to connect from outside the LAN where the FMS is.

If anyone have a clue, please share. I think this is a bug, since I haven't heard about anyone that have succeed.
