Chalkster Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 I have built a database for entering, storing and output of flight data (rules routes season prices etc) data for an Internet Booking Engine built in FM pro 7 (mac) This started as a small project to produce data strings correctly for the IBE to interpret and grew to a complete data entry system that allows user friendly data input, validates and converts formats , adds required syntax and outputs the data in a the form required to upload to the online SQL database the IBE uses. I am not going to sell this commercially since the data structure exported is very specific to a particular IBE ( the primary purpose is to save me the time spent troubleshooting human data input errors when they enter data in spreadsheets) but a number of my clients areasking for the database in order to migrate from their current spreadsheet based input (where there are always a % human input errors in syntax that screw up bookings) My problem is that when the data struture of the IBE gets extended or changed although I can easily reflect the change myself it is a nightmare to have to walk each client through the data import process and any other alterations that are needed. My question is would FM developer allow me to automate and solve this sort of problem.... I am looking for some general advice about how to set up a process of updating and importing from multiple FM files with relationships between them without having to spend a lot of time on each customer. If yes then should I do it in the PC version because the clients work on PC or can I do it in Mac and export it...... I have no idea at all because I have never tried FM developor
transpower Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 I doubt if Developer would help you any more then FM 7 in this instance.
