Install Error on Server Advanced

Featured Replies

I'm trying to install FM Server Advanced (the Web Bublishing Tools and Engine) on my Mac OS X 10.3.7 box (it is up to date, and has Java 1.4.2 Update 2 installed).

I get an error message saying that Java 1.4.1 Update 1 is required, and cannot proceed.

Java 1.4.1 Update 1 was released by Apple Sometime in 2003, long before Server 7. Java 1.4.2 Update 2 was released 9/24/04, and I'm sure is part of all Mac OS X updaters.

Can anyone provide a clue on what I need to do to install this. I can't find anything on FileMaker's pathetic site. Was trying to do this without using a chit. TIA.

Marshall

Haven't heard of anyone with this problem.

Did you try the regular maintenance (repairing disk permissions, ...)?

Are you logged in with an admin account?

If all else fails you might have to reinstall the OS from scratch.

I am doing this from an admin account, and all permissions are fine. The iVISe installer is looking for Java 1.4.1 Update 1, and not finding it will not proceed.

I'll call FileMaker. Wish me luck!

from the stand point of view of FM i don't know but i had this problem in my os x when i was trying to do system update and install java 1.4.2. i couldn't install 1.4.2 because system update couldn't find 1.4.1. on my machines. so... i unistalled java and then installed it one more time. and first i installed 1.4.1 then moved on to 1.4.2. make sure not to use the Apple's software upadate to install java, otherwise it will be a disaster.

good luck.
