KirstyB Posted January 10, 2005 Posted January 10, 2005 I am attempting to combine two identical databases. I was trying to import database 1 into database 2 however for some reason when I want to match field on matching names this option is no available...why would this be the case? Kirsty
Lee Smith Posted January 10, 2005 Posted January 10, 2005 Hi Kirsty, Are any other of the import options available besides the Match Field Names? Are all of the fields grayed out on the left side, right side both sides? This sounds on the surface that you don't have "Access Privileges" or "Password" to perform the import. HTH Lee
KirstyB Posted January 11, 2005 Author Posted January 11, 2005 All the other mimport matching options are available...only non of them match this data particularly well ...matching names would be the best option. I will have a look at he access privelages and see if that is it. thanks Kirsty
Lee Smith Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 Hi Kirsty, If they are truly "Identical" meaning all fields are the exact same names in both files, then I'm not sure why this is happening. I might be helpful to us to see a striped down sample of the two files. Lee
KirstyB Posted January 14, 2005 Author Posted January 14, 2005 THought I had it sorted as it was working fine yesterday, with someother db but today it is again not letting me see the matching file name options. This time I am working with some old dbs tat I inherited which are n fm 5.5 I had wanted to sort the data in these before taking it up into my new fm 7 database. I then stripped the data out of the databases (created clones of two of them) in order topost on this site and hey presto suddenly the option of matching names is available again....could it be something to do withthe type of data in the fields?
Lee Smith Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 Hi Kirsty, It sounds like it may be corruptions all right. Take a look at this article posted in the [color:"black"]Solutions & Suggestions >> Articles - Tips, Tricks & Techniques Click Here to go and the link provided by [color:"blue"]gdurniak Sorry that the news isn't good. But at least you have solved (I think) your first question. Lee
