Hi,

I am trying to create a document management system in fm 7 so I can get away from creating millions of layouts to do simple letters. One problem that we have with letters in fm 6 is combining the body of the letter with the electronic signature graphic. The problem: the text block of the letter differs in size due to the number of address lines. The graphic does not slide/move when the text block gets longer so ultimately we always had to export these letters to word.

I want to be able to create a table that has one record for each letter. I have tried several different ways to create a calculated container field that combines the merged text with the signature graphic so that I can get a letter that puts the signature in the right place. I even tried to make the letter text a container field first, then concatenate it with the signature container field. Nothing seems to work. Is it possible to write a calculation that combines two container fields into one? Or is it possible to combine a text field with a container field in a calculation? Any ideas for a scripted work around? Everything I have tried does not work. I was really excited about the idea of a document management system in 7 but this road block is still forcing me to export data to word. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

It seems to me that this is a "sliding/printing" problem. If you set the alignment of the container field to top, then you should be able to slide it to the bottom of your text field. It does work, so if it isn't there's something else that needs looking at. Space does matter; it will not slide over blank layout space; but the text body should slide up.
