FM Server 5 on OS X "quitting" after backup sched?

Featured Replies

I finally figured out WHAT was causing a persistant problem I was having;

Configuration: 30 user network of FM 6 (mixed OS X and OS 9 clients).

FM Server 5 on OS X (10.3.5). Serving 25 files. What would probably be considered "very light" traffic.

What was happening;

The server would "mysteriously" just STOP... Open the config app, click start, and away it goes... but then after a day,or two, or three (seldom longer).. it would just stop again.

What I finally figured out..

The log shows that the last 3 times it "just stopped" happened to be RIGHT after a backup schedule finished running. The last entry in the log is "backup schedule complete".

So my question is;

WHY, and how do I make it STOP, er, stopping?

Thanks in advance!

What version FMS are you using? Which patch level... like 5.0v1 or 5.5v2? Also which model computer are you running?

Sorry it took a couple days to get back...

FM Server 5, version v2. ( I plan to back-up, and install the v4 updater next holiday when I have some "down time".. this is at a school, so school holidays are fairly regular...)

It is running from an iMac (G3/CRT model) DV 450.

Any insight appreciated!
