Hit Ctrl-Shift-D and you're in 'Define database'. If you have sufficient priviliges, that is.

Looks like you could do with a beginners course (this is not meant in any derogatory way, Gawd knows I'm a stinking newb myself), maybe you could start by doing the tutorial?

Having all the Filemaker Pro literatur,I could not find

a hint how to extend an existing database.

Which course could you recommand ??
