Martin Brändle Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Following situation: FM7 Pro on Windows 2000, FM7 Server Advanced on Mac OS X Server, both machines in the same subnet. When doing an "Open Remote ...", "Local hosts", the correct name of the server, but a wrong IP address: 254.128.0.0, is shown (or fmnet://254.128.0.0/ ). No databases are displayed in the right column of the Open Remote dialog. With a second try of "Open Remote ...", everything works as expected: server name and IP address are correct, all hosted databases are displayed and can be opened. With FM7 Pro on OS X client, one directly gets the right server IP address and all databases are displayed. It seems that something goes wrong when FM7 Pro sends a broadcast to find local servers. Has anybody experienced the same behaviour? Any explanation? Bug? Thanks for answers, Martin
dkemme Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 How are your machines getting IP addresses, do you have a router passing out the info automatically, could you have an error in assigning IP numbers...? Consider posting this on the network portion of this website.
Martin Brändle Posted January 25, 2005 Author Posted January 25, 2005 Both machines have entries in the DNS and their network settings should be configured correctly. Martin
