AppleScript: shut down server, quit 5.5 ServerConf

We are running Filemaker Server 5.5 on a OSX dual 2.0 desktop machine.

Last night we had a blackout while the server was running. The UPS unit ran out of juice and shut the machine down after 5 minutes while no one was here. Of course, all our database files were corrupted and it took 3 hours to rebuild them this morning.

Our UPS unit, a Belkin Office 750AV, has software that will enable the computer to run a script to shut down applications during power interruptions.

What I'd like is a script that will kick in when the UPS goes into battery backup mode. The script would shut down the FM Server, wait 3 minutes for all files to close, then close FileMaker Server Config.

After that script runs, I can program the Belkin unit to shut down the computer.

Anyone have experience with such a script, and advise on syntax?

thanks very much

paul
