j_u_s_t_i_n Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 can anyone explain me (step-by-step, in full detail) how can i export repeating field data? the FM7 help says: To export all repeating field values: 1 Find the records you want to export. 2 Make a clone of the file you want to export. 3 Open the clone, then import the data from the original file. 4 In the Import Options dialog box, select Splitting them into separate records, then click OK. 5 Export from this clone file to SYLK, WKS, and DBF formats. but i have absolutely no idea where to start! im just a beginner here, so any help is really appreciated. thanks guys!
j_u_s_t_i_n Posted February 3, 2005 Author Posted February 3, 2005 update: ive done steps 1-3 but i cant do step 4 because it is grayed out (i cant select it! waaaa)! now what do i do?
j_u_s_t_i_n Posted February 3, 2005 Author Posted February 3, 2005 also, when i export the repeating fields directly (slk file), it only exports the first values of the repeating field. pls help me pls...
Vaughan Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 make sure you're using FMP 7.0v3. I believe there was a bug in earlier versions (v1 and v2).
Ugo DI LUCA Posted February 3, 2005 Posted February 3, 2005 Hi, I don't know why you cannot select this option and don't have 7 here for a test, but may be you could try to create a new field (not repeating) in the clone file, called repeatHolder, and then use this field for the match to your previously repeating field.
j_u_s_t_i_n Posted February 4, 2005 Author Posted February 4, 2005 im exporting the records from the old system, and it is already a finished product, so some modes (layout especially) and some settings are disabled by my seniors (the one who programmed the system). i cant do what you suggested (create new field), and i think this is what the problem is. so i guess i have to go and ask my seniors about giving me an editable copy of the system. right? or do you guys have anymore suggestions?
j_u_s_t_i_n Posted February 4, 2005 Author Posted February 4, 2005 ok im right, i just need administrator access to the system. thanks alot guys!
