Filemaker 7/SQL Server

Is it possible to use Filemaker Pro 7 as a front end to a SQL Server database?

We were hoping that FMP 7 would allow us to have FMP be a front end to SQL but it doesn't make it much easier. You can't accomplish easily like in Access. You would have to write several scripts to accomplish it and I think it would be messy.

So I guess the answer is yes but not directly.

HTH,

John

PS We did find that you can access a FMP table with DTS. We are scheduling DTS packages that will pull FMP info into SQL tables and then we work with it from there.

I've actually had good succes with FM 7 pushing and pulling data from SQL, without overly complicated scripts. It also seems that the ODBC functionality is faster with FM 7 than in previous versions. Just my experience.

Cheers,

Adam
