Newbies Hence Posted February 9, 2005 Newbies Posted February 9, 2005 Is it possible to use Filemaker Pro 7 as a front end to a SQL Server database?
laker_42 Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 We were hoping that FMP 7 would allow us to have FMP be a front end to SQL but it doesn't make it much easier. You can't accomplish easily like in Access. You would have to write several scripts to accomplish it and I think it would be messy. So I guess the answer is yes but not directly. HTH, John PS We did find that you can access a FMP table with DTS. We are scheduling DTS packages that will pull FMP info into SQL tables and then we work with it from there.
aklodner Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 I've actually had good succes with FM 7 pushing and pulling data from SQL, without overly complicated scripts. It also seems that the ODBC functionality is faster with FM 7 than in previous versions. Just my experience. Cheers, Adam
