Newbies PandionKnight Posted February 10, 2005 Newbies Posted February 10, 2005 After reading a fair bit about FileMaker 7, I decided to try the demo and liked it. For a living I maintain a dental website that now requires a user login screen and site search facility. Can FM help me do this?
PoweredbyFm7 Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 yes, really. Especially Filemaker Pro 6 and CDML tags. But at filemaker 7, you can do this with xslt. Site assistant help you. But you must buy filemaker server 7 and server 7 advanced for this. For filemaker pro 6, you can must filemaker unlimited.
Ted S Posted February 10, 2005 Posted February 10, 2005 Mr. Knight, I like FMP a lot but the PHP / MYSQL combo is hard to beat if you are just doing web stuff. To me FM is good front-end / back-end database for workgroups but FM just doesn't come to mind as a particularly well suited back-end tool for web pages. Take a look at this thread: http://www.fmforums.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=UBB12&Number=93684 It does not address FM version 7 but has a lot of good information concerning other web technologies. Maybe some other folks can weigh in here as well.
