I have a layout in list veiw. There is a footer with all the buttons to set up the printer and print. The print script brings the layout into preview mode and prints. The problem I'm running into is the computer continues to print the footer as well. I know how to tell fields not to print, but how do you tell the footer and everything in it not to print.

You don't. You duplicate your layout, remove the footer, and have the print script move to the new layout before printing, then return to the original layout.

Unless of course, you merely want a blank footer. In that case, select everything in it and format it to not print selected objects.
