Macintosh Compatiable Mobile Provider

Featured Replies

Looking for recommendation for a cell phone provider that has

the ability to connect wirelessly either thru Bluetooth to a phone or

with a USB Cable to phone or even a PC Card.

I wouldn't have thought any compatibilty issues would be between your providor and the Mac, but between your Mac and the phone. All the providor offers is GPRS from the phone, the rest is up to you. That's certainly how it is over here.

I'm in the UK so I can't comment on your networks, but I've used Sony Ericsson Phones (T68i, P800, P900 and P910i) with GPRS and the built in modem and the've all worked via bluetooth.

About 2 years ago I purchased a product called Quick link Mobile from Smith Micro. The product included a USB to Cell pfone cable and some software. I wanted to be able to use my cell phone to allow internet connection from my Powerbook. I have a Verizon cell account with Natiobnal Access. It works fine just a little slow. However I just never found the need to use it since then.

Hi,

I used SmithMicro's QuickLink Bluetooth and an (slow) old iBook and it worked great. Remember, you have to sign up for data connection and pay a fee per month.
