FileMaker Developer 4.0 and FileMaker Server

Can runtime solutions bound in FileMaker Developer 4.0 be 'networked' through FileMaker Server? Additional information about any networking or 'sharing' capabilities using FileMaker 4.0 runtime files would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Russ

Which version of Server?

The issue is not the server. Both FileMaker 3 and 4 use the same FileMaker 3 Server. However, the Developer SDK for FileMaker 3 allowed you to create networkable runtimes; Developer 4 does not.

So your answer is: no. Runtimes created with FileMaker Developer 4 and later cannot serve as host or client. However, the bound files themselves can be hosted with FileMaker Server -- but then you'd access them with a standard FileMaker Pro client, not a runtime.
