Can't modify field content mysteriously disappears

From time to time In a file which contains a field set as INDEXED, AUTO-ENTER SERIAL, CAN'T MODIFY AUTO, the contents of one sell will diasappear. I cannot determine why and therefore fix the problem. The field is vital as it is to be a relationship in severl related files [email protected] [color:"black"]

Sounds like possible corruption. Do you have reliable backups?

It's also possible that a script is nullifying the field. A Set Field step can modify a field that doesn't allow modification.

Are you refering to a corruption of this particular file or of Filemaker pro 6 itself? I will check to set if I have any set fields for this field.

That was easier then I anticipated. I found a script that set that field to "".
