Is there a way to prevent a field from automatically advancing to the next field?

In other words, when somebody enters info into a field and hits return I don't want it to activate the next field automatically, just deactivate all fields.

One field or all fields? In FileMaker 6, go to Layout > Set tab order > Create new tab order would have this effect, but it would apply to every field on the layout. FileMaker 7 gives you field-by-field control, check out Format > Field Behavior and uncheck all the options.
