We currently run FileMaker Server 5.5 on an xServe G4 running Mac OS X Server 10.3.8. Approx 12 Clients run FileMaker Pro 6 on Mac OS X 10.3.8. I run Developer 6 edition. We are making the move to FileMaker Server 7 and FileMaker Server 7 Advanced this year.

My question is this. Can I install FileMaker Server 7 and FileMaker Server 7 Advanced on the xServe so the server can host fp5 and fp7 databases. This would be temporary for migration/troubleshooting purposes, and the fp7 databases would not require remote WAN access during this temp migration/troubleshooting phase. My reasoning is, short of getting another FileMaker Server machine, how else do I have the staff run fp5 production databases while I troubleshoot fp7 databases (that were converted from the fp5 databases)? Can they coexist on same server? If so, can they run at same time so fp5 and fp7 databases are available? Maybe in the FileMaker Server 7 prefs, I'll name the server fp7.domain.org, so there is no confusion. Or will this conflict with the FileMaker Server 5.5 prefs? I have been doing ALOT of reading on the migration to FM7 and I haven't found the answer to this. Thanx in advance.
