Hi All,

I'm trying to find out how I can put a shortcut on a users desktop which will when clicked start up filemaker and go to a remote server.

Is this easy to do?

Thanks

Try a syntax like this on your shortcut:

fmp7://10.20.30.40/FileName.fp7

The "10.20.30.40" in the example is the IP address of your server.

If you want a shortcut to open up a specific hosted database on a server instead of allowing the user to select from a list of hosted databases, a better solution is to create a opener file. Do a search on the forum for the thread on this. I use it for my clients and it is completely seemless.

Actually the method described in my last post opens a specific file on a remote host so unless you're doing something additional, the opener file is not necessary.
