I'm planning on doing the FMP 7 certification very soon. I'd like to know what topics and areas the certification covers.

The FMI web site gives no clues (or none that I can find) nor are there any sample questions on the Prometrics web site (the group that run the testing).

If you've done the certification -- and passed -- I'd like to hear from you.

It'd be a waste of money having to do the test twice -- the first time just to find out what's in the test, the second time to pass it -- but I will if I have to I guess.

Thanks....

Hi Vaughan,

I remember reading somewhere a posting from someone who had taken the test and was suprised at the amount of questions that pertained to how the different FileMaker products are bundled and sold and the system requirements for each.

Vaughan -

from the FileMaker site, it lists

Exam coverage areas

Knowing the product technical specifications

Defining database schema

Building layouts

Working with the calculation dialog box

Writing scripts

Securing FileMaker systems

Deploying database solutions via Server

Data integration and data movement

Publishing FileMaker data on the web

Converting legacy FileMaker systems into FileMaker Pro 7

Using FileMaker Pro 7 specific Features

The products or technologies covered are FileMaker 7 product family, data integration technologies: XML/XSLT/xDBC, networking technologies, web basics and architecture.

Thanks Ted.

Andy -- I wish FMI wouldn't put information right where you'd expect to find it! Thanks for the heads-up.
