I'm Confusing Myself!

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I've been running around in circles with this database for about a week now, and I thought I'd post it to see what you all make of it.

I have attached a strip down version of my database here. The purpose is to keep track of student scholarships by semester. There are several tables:

Accounts - each year we would input a list of accounts and the beginning balance

Areas - each year we update the list of areas the scholarship money can go to

Schol Logic - we then distribute the money from the accounts to the areas (this should be pretty straightforward from the layout)

Schol Submit form - we distribute the scholarships

The problem comes in my calculations. Right now I've got it set to keep a running balance of the area budget as you distribute the scholarships. Unfortunately, the end user would like to be able to select which account that money is coming from, as well as which area (hence the portal with available account funds). They'd like to see a running balance for each account BY AREA (i.e. only a certain percent of an account goes into each area, and then as I pull money from that account within that area, there would be a calc to see how much is left). I keep getting caught up in my relationships graph.

Hopefully someone can make sense of this, and thank you in advance!
