Copy Paste help

Hello all

I have two fields Customer_::Phone AND Invoice_Old:: Phone. What i'm looking for is a copy and paste script. Copy everything from field Customer_::Phone and paste it into Invoice_Old:: Phone. There are no portals. I'm sure this is simple but for some strange reason I'm having a great deal of difficulty.

Thanxs

It would be easiest to let the relationship between Customer and Invoices handle this for you. I assume they are related on the CustomerID? If so, add an Auto-Enter via Lookup to your Invoice_Old::Phone, selecting your Customer_::Phone.

If you need to pre-fill existing records, you can loop script it or use Replace Contents. Is this a one-time thing or a recurring process?

And please delete your duplicate post in vs. 5/6. Not only is a duplicate post unnecessary but the other one is in the wrong section since you've indicated you are using vs. 7. wink.gif

good point

Moonshadow didn't touch the dodgyness with copy and paste in this context. Thou must never ever touch what the user might have in his/her clipboard - use Set Field, autoenters, references over the relationships according to your needs. The clipboard is only ment for interapplicational maneuvers - not filemaker/filemaker stuff, say the clipboard contains a unique occurence of a holiday picture or soundclip....
