Hey guys,

I have a portal in my Invoice for Product Transactions (Invoice Line Items). No problem there.

What I need to do is separate out two types of Products - Physical Products and Shipping Costs - and make two separate portals to display each of these respectively. It wasn't making sense that shipping upgrades be displayed in the same list as the normal products, but for accounting's sake, these all must be considered transactions.

So far, I've created two new relationships - ProductTransactions and ShippingTransactions. ProductTransactions is linked by UniqueInvoiceNumber, the same as the original all-inclusive Transactions, except that there's also a 'not equals' link between ProductType (DVDs, Books, Shipping, etc) and a new global variable in the Invoice called ShippingConstant that's set to 'Shipping'. I put this in a Portal, and everything works fine - all the non-Shipping products stay, but the Shipping Line Items get filtered out.

Now for the second portal / relationship, where I only want the Shipping products to show up. I've done pretty much the exact same thing as above, except this time the relationship between ProductType and the 'Shipping' ShippingConstant global is set to 'equal' instead of 'not equal'. I would expect this to show me all the shipping charges. Here's the problem - it doesn't.

What I get instead is a copy of the first line item from Physical Products Portal, in the case of an Invoice having shipping Line Items. Any thoughts? Could there be a problem referencing the smae table twice from different portals on the same layout? Please let me know if I can provide any clarification.

Thanks for your input!!!!

OK, so I just realized a couple other things that may shed some light:

1) while the Shipping portal doesn't display the correct data, a Sum works properly on that Relationship

2) the Products portal doesn't work as well as I thought. If there are 3 items, they all show up as duplicates of the first item. Again, sums work properly, but the display is not showing all the different items, it's showing all duplicates of the first item. Strange.

thanks again for any help!

Yay! Figured it out.

The portal fields were still in the context of the old relationship. I switched all the fields to be going through the new relationship, and it works fine now.

Thanks for the support of everyone on this board and hopefully this post will help somebody else down the road.
