johnrh Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Is there a way of clicking on a field on tableview and triggering a script. It works in form and list views but nothing works in table view. Many thanks
Lee Smith Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 You can add buttons to the header, and in Layout Mode change the Table View to show Headers. HTH Lee
johnrh Posted April 5, 2005 Author Posted April 5, 2005 Yes, Thanks for that I Know that you can add heades but what wold really like to do is click on a particular record (i.e. row) and go to the details form of that record. It appears that you cannot do that in table row Thanks John
Lee Smith Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 Do you mean like changing layout view from Table to Form? If so, you can use Script, and the Keyboard combination to do this. Or, do you mean as in a Portal view and going to the Related Record? Lee
BrentHedden Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 I'm not aware of making that possible. I can create an invisible button that spans the length of the body part, and this button will run a script that goes to the related record, on a certain layout. Works great in List view, but just won't work at all in Table view. I don't know WHY it doesn't work, but there must be a good reason for it. I suppose you could create a "Goto" button in the header. That way, you can click on the record you want, then goto a "detailed" layout of that record. It's not the most convienent, but will work if you need it to be in Table view.
Lee Smith Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Hi Brent, AFAIK you are correct that this is a Limitation of Table View, and the solution lies in using a Portal, or creating a List View. or use the Button in the Header/ Keyboard combination. Lee
