File Options - Log on using...

Featured Replies

I have a Log Database that tracks events in a computer room. I am trying to share it with others. Here's my story...

Database name: Log File

Accounts:

king (full access)

Superuser (not full but more then just data entry)

Basic (data entry only)

there are 4 secondary files linked to the Log database. They are:

building

staff

inventory

emergency

There are two accounts on each of those four files

king (full access)

simple (data entry only)

We have set the File Options to four secondary files to

Open with account

"simple"

using the correct password.

What should happen

Double click on Log

Asks for name and password

you are in or not

If you enter the wrong name /password you dont get in.

If you enter the correct name and password, the four secondary files open automatically (no name and password needed) using the "simple" account.

If you hold down the shift key after entering you name and password the first time you are prompted for name and password to open secondary files.

What is happening

Double click on Log

Asks for name and password

then ask's for name and password to each of the four secondary files.

If I happen to log in using an account that is the same on the four secondary files (king) then I am not prompted for log on information.

Both the applcation and server version are the most recent (all updates applied).

Am I missing something?

You need to create the same account/passwords for each of the other files to bypass the name/pword for each secondary file.
