PopUp menu in a portal

Featured Replies

here is a doozy...

I am creating an system that allows me to pay royalties to writers on specific albums. So I am creating Royalty statments. Each statment will have multiple writers on it.

Tables are:

ALBUM

WRITER

STATEMENT

LINE ITEM

I have set up the relationships as follows. Each ALBUM has multiple writers. Each ALBUM has multiple STATEMENTS. Each STATEMENT has multiple LINE ITEMS.

I have a Popup menu on the STATEMENT layout that allows me to choose what ALBUM I am doing a statement for... there is also a portal to show related LINE ITEMS.

What I am trying to do is have a pop up menu in the LINE ITEM portal row that will display a list of WRITERS based on what I choose as my ALBUM.

I tried creating a value list that grabs all of the WRITERS which works fine, except that is shows ALL of the writers from all of the ALBUMs. When I select the option for "Only Show related values" the pop-up menu shows <no values defined>

I am lost, and out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

It should work if you have selected:

'Use values from first field: Writer::Writer Name'

or

'Use values from first field: Writer::Writer ID'

depending on which you wish to show. Then the Value List Content is:

'Include only related values starting from: Statement'.

or

'Include only related values starting from: Album'.

Make sure the table occurences involved are all connected in the manner you described.
