Newbies [email protected] Posted October 27, 2001 Newbies Posted October 27, 2001 I have created a date field that calculates an expiry date based on the date of creation of the record. This calculation works but it will not calculate an expiry date for records created prior to the expiry date field creation. Is there any way to have FileMaker go back and calculate these dates? I am usinf FileMaker 4
danjacoby Posted October 27, 2001 Posted October 27, 2001 Create a date field. Change the calc to create the expiry date based on the contents of the date field or, if the date field is empty, the creation date of the record. That way, you can also override expiry dates on any record you choose.
Newbies [email protected] Posted October 29, 2001 Author Newbies Posted October 29, 2001 I just discovered that if I import the data to a clone of the original data all the calculations take place during the importation.
LeCates Posted November 1, 2001 Posted November 1, 2001 Hi Doug, In addition to importing all your data in to a clone, there is another more direct way to retroactively apply auto-enter calculation formulas into date fields (or text, num, and time fields for that matter). You can use the Replace function under the Records menu across a found set. Just Replace using the same calculation formula that you setup for your auto-entry options. Good luck,
