No Records Found--Unstored Calculated Field

Featured Replies

When I do a Find in an Unstored Calculated(text) field it says there are no records found when I know the record is there.

The field I am trying to do a find in is called LastNameCalc and is defined as follows:

If(IsEmpty(ID#);Last Name;IndivInfo::LastName)

The calculation works fine. I can see the Last Name for records that do and those that do not have ID#'s. It is when I do a find that I have a problem.

For records that do not have an ID#, the find works fine. When a record does have an ID# it says there are no records found when I know the record is there.

Is it because of the relationship in the calculation? Why won't it find it when I can see it right there? This worked fine in Filemaker 6.0.

The answer to you question is in the type of field you are searching on. Unstored is exactly what it means, Filemaker does not store a value for that calculation, it displays it only as need. So, no storage, no indexing - no indexing, no searching.

Nature of the beast.
