Newbies scottam Posted April 16, 2005 Newbies Posted April 16, 2005 On a file I have used for years, when I am in Browse mode, only one newly created (and not the most recent) field will show me the pop-up value list. This is a file with 12 pop-up value lists. This occurs in all layouts. Any ideas anyone?
Lee Smith Posted April 16, 2005 Posted April 16, 2005 Hi Scottam, and welcome to the Forum. It sounds like you have a corrupted file. Has this file crashed recently - ever? Has it been open when the System crash? Is it being served? Have you been force to use FileMaker's "Recovery" recently - ever? Do you have a clean Backup? Lee
Newbies scottam Posted April 16, 2005 Author Newbies Posted April 16, 2005 Thanks, Lee. Luckily, I have fixed this problem. In layout I had to rechoose each field and select the Field Format and select a Value List. It is as thought it had lost the connection between the field and the Value List. But now that that is fixed, I have another major problem. I am creating new fields which appear in Layout mode, but not when I enter Browser mode in all my existing Layouts. If I create a new Layout, I seem to be able to have a new field appear in Browser mode. But as my Layouts are many and complex, I really do not want to start over and re-create all my Layouts. I am concerned about a corrupted file. My file could have been open sometime in the past when my System crashed. I have never used "Recovery". I have some backups, but they too might be in the same state. And of course now I have made many changes and additions. Scott
Lee Smith Posted April 17, 2005 Posted April 17, 2005 Hi Scott, Corruption can take many forms. Fonts, Layout, fields, graphics, etc. Can you attach a striped down copy of your file? Maybe one of us will be able to spot something. Also, it may be something to do with your computer. As a Mac user I always key in on the Fonts, did you change, replace, add, delete, etc. any fonts lately? HTH Lee
