I have a friend who wants to go from filemaker 3 to filemaker 7 (mac os 9 to os X).... what foreseeable problems can i expect? I have only used fmp7, and i thought that the major update was from 6 to 7 when relational db became relational...

There are lots of possible problems. Your friend may or may not experience these problems, depending on how his/her database is setup.
