after a filemaker server crash, i would like to restart fms. but i only get the message:

"Unable to start server - Another instance of FileMaker Server is already running.

Requested command has not been executed."

According to activity manager, the fmserved process is still running. I stopped both, the fmserved and the FMServer config process. Trying to restart, i get the same result.

Is there an other fms process i have to quit? Or does anybody know how i could restart filemaker server 5.5 after a crash without restarting the computer?

The key is close the files using FMServer config process, then restart the computer, restart FMServer, open files, read the log. If the log states any problems with closing or opening the files, I would not use those files. Revert to the last backup, if not possible import the data to a clone of the last backup. To try and use the file that was not closed or opened properly invites corruption.
