Is it possible to add a PDF file inside a container? I am strongly considering purchase after reviewing the demo for a couple weeks. I am interested in creating a DB that will hold all my serial numbers and software reg codes. I also have some pdf's that are screen shots of online purchases and am interested in finding out if I can add these as well. One other question. Are there any sites out there that might possibly have a template that could possibly suit my needs? Thanks in advance. .

Hi and welcome to the Forums.

I deleted your other post. It seemed like a duplicate, and maybe it got posted before you were ready. Anyway, this one had more information.

Please do NOT double post in the forum.

I'm moving this post to Container Fields, and I will send you a Private Message as to why.

Yes, you can fairly easily add these. There are a few possibilities with embedding graphics in container fields. But for what you're doing I'd say just embed them entirely (uncheck "as reference only"). Use Insert Picture.

You will find that PDFs do not look so hot when Inserted as embedded. If you blow them up to 400% you'll see that they are fine. FileMaker can't seem to anti-alias them in the container. They're still readable however. You only get the 1st page though.

You can also Insert as File, to get multi-page PDFs. But then you have to Export Field Contents to get them out again.

You can easily make a serial# and registrations file. There's only a few fields. But if you want a template look in the FileMaker application folder, in the template files, for Asset Management.fp7.
