April 28, 200520 yr is it possible to prevent someone from closing a database using the "X" button in the corner of the window. I don't mind if they use it to close filemaker all together, but is there a way to prevent them from closing indivual databases with the "X"? My guess is probably not, but never hurts to ask...
April 30, 200520 yr There are several ways of doing this but Filemaker does doesn't provide one for you. 1. Free way (opining, not preferred) Put a pause step for the window. During a pause the user can't close the window. The only problem with this solution is you must put a pause after ever script (buttons, etc) used in that window. This is why I don't prefer it. 2. Plug-in (preferred, but costs money) The plug-in I recommend is WindowUtility. It will let you do anything with a window you can think of. The others are MenuControl and SecureFM. Now these plug-ins are for controlling the menus of Filemaker but they can disable a window's close button. I hope this helps.
