Not everything fits on page when printing

Featured Replies

OK, I admit it, I am a complete Filemaker Pro novice (working on version 5); I am setting up a job bag system at work and I want to be able to print out my Filemaker records onto A4.

However, just under half the page gets cut off when printing (and it's the same in preview mode); the area where this cuts off corresponds with a sort of dotted rule running across the page, when in Layout mode

I'm sure it's staring me in the face, but blowed if I can work it out.

The 'dotted' lines across the page are your page breaks. The line down the right side is the right margin of the printable area.

To make your data fit your layout, select "View/Page Margins" in Layout Mode. Then make sure your fields and text, etc. fits inside the area.

OK check these things:

1) your headers and footers are not big -- these take paper away from your Body parts

2) your page orientation is correct: include a Page Setup [restore, no dialog] in your script before printing.

Many thanks, worked a treat and I've made real progress.

Now . . . I have done my layout and it's looking good.

However, in Preview mode only a second page is being created automatically with three entries at the top which are the same as the first three entries at the beginning of the record I am creating.

In Preview Mode the total number of pages indicates ?

I can't see this extra page in Browse or Layout mode, so can't delete it

It's OK, I've sorted it now
