Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to create a "Scan Document" button within Filemaker (windows xp) that would initiate my scanner to scan a document. I am looking at storing this document in a container upon completion, and would like this process automated. Any help on how to do this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Here's what I did.

1. Create a container field I'll call it scan_1.

2. Create a button to perform script:

Go to Field [scan_1]

Insert Object ["PaintBrush Picture"] <== Specify button to do this

Then, when you press the button, Windows Paintbrush will pop-up and you can go to

"File" and choose "from scanner or camera" and when you finish scanning and exit Paintbrush your scan will be in the field Scan_1.

You can also purchase a plug-in called InsideScan which does this more elegantly.

HTH.

is there a solution for Mac users?

AppleScript your Scanner (software) or open by button. Or enable your solution to open whenever you scan (twain, image capture) or insert a digicam photo chip. Filemaker App prefs).
