Based on client requests, Crywolf has partnered with Cris Ippolite http://www.iSolutions-Inc.com to bring FileMaker Pro training to San Diego! Beginning on May 31 and going through June 3, this class is packed with information to get you up and running smoothing in FileMaker Pro 7.

It is designed as a four day class (eight hour days), but it is also available as separate days. Please contact me directly if you would like to take only certain days of the course. FileMaker Professional Foundation Training Series II

Day One: Developer Skills covers 3 modules: Using FileMaker Pro 7, Developer Skills 1 and Converting Solutions to FileMaker Pro 7.

Learn how to work with FileMaker Pro 7 solutions including using forms for data entry, performing find requests, sorting records, and navigating typical systems. Explore the fundamentals of creating and modifying your own simple databases. Build a complete FileMaker Pro 7 database solution and learn to work with field types, auto-entry options, field validation, calculation formulas, scripts, and reports. This module also covers concepts like development standards and how to ensure that a database meet the needs of its users. Explore the business and technical issues around using conversion functions in FileMaker Pro 7, learn the best approaches to converting solutions from prior versions of FileMaker Pro, and come to understand what other tools and resources are available for assistance.

Day Two: Data Modeling & Security covers 2 modules: Data Modeling and Security. Study the concepts behind relational databases and understand how they are applied in FileMaker Pro 7. Learn how to recognize data relationships, ensure data integrity, and implement multiple table solutions in FileMaker Pro 7.

Day Three: Advanced Developer Skills covers 2 modules: Developer Skills 2 and FileMaker Developer 7. As a companion to Developer Skills 1, delve into writing advanced calculations, learn about the new capabilities of FileMaker Pro 7, explore custom functions, new scripting techniques, and multiple window management. Security Study the account-based security features of FileMaker Pro 7 and learn how to implement privilege sets, tie access to database solutions to external authentication servers, control both access and authoring rights to systems, and extend security controls with scripting. Examine the tools in FileMaker Developer 7 including file optimization, script debugging, the database development report, and custom functions. Study how to create a bound runtime solution, deliver a kiosk system, and customize a solution. Learn how to work with plug-ins and incorporate them into database systems.

Day Four: Web Programming Workshop covers 3 modules: Instant Web Publishing (IWP), Custom Web Publishing (XML & XSLT) and Web Programming Workshop (XML & XSLT). Study the capabilities of built-in Instant Web Publishing in FileMaker Pro 7 and learn how to develop solutions meant to be published via IWP. Review configuration processes and understand what development techniques to use for optimal results. Examine XML-based publishing options in FileMaker Server 7 Advanced and better understand how to build websites using FileMaker Pro 7 databases as a backend. Review the XSLT style sheets used for Custom Web Publishing and learn the basics of XML and XSLT. Also discover how to use the CDML conversion tool to translate existing sites to FileMaker Pro 7 and the Site Assistant tool to create custom web sites with less effort. Study how to build an XSLT-driven Web application using FileMaker Pro 7 using a hands-on approach. Learn how to work with XSLT templates, better understand style sheets, and how to publish FileMaker Pro 7 data to the Web.
