what are the fx.php software requirements ?

can I use any of them with the regular FMPRO 7 ?

if the advanced server is required, only people who can spend $2500 will be able to use those free intefaces.

mysql is 100 times faster, 100 times more reliable, open to any scripting language and FREE.

i can't wait for someone to come up with a GUI for mysql and free us from this slavery of FM.

sorry, i'm just frustrated with a company that keeps abusing his customers.

Hi -

FX.php is used with Custom web publishing and therefore in 7 you will need to purchase FMS7A if you want more than 5 concurrent sessions.

You can use FX.php with previous versions of FileMaker (back through 4 I believe) and so you may be able to pick up FM6 or earlier unlimited cheaper than FMS7A

fyi, mysql is not free for commercial use.

Also, you can buy a copy of filemaker developer and you'll get a development license for server advanced so you can test out things like fx.php or xslt.

Alternatively, you can try cafe php, then you can use php with plain FMP 7.

I have Filemaker 7. So it means I can still use fx.php and www.fm-and-php.info (even if with only 5 connections)?

I tried to use Filemaker 7 and it seems it doesn't work with www.fm-and-php.info

can you confirm that it works with FMPRO 7 ?

thanks

You cannot use either of these products with FMP 7... you need server advanced because FMP 7 does not support xml web publishing that you need to use these php classes.

You can use cafe php with FMP 7.

I haven't tried this myself though...

CAFEphp works with plain FileMaker Pro 5-7 on the windows side of things ??? FX.php capabilites are being added to CAFEphp which means that all of you individuals currently using FX.php will be able to publish you FX.php web sites with plain FileMaker 7.0. We are hoping to make this new feature available very soon! http://www.cafephp.com

Just FYI, but this it not correct. MySQL is 100% free for commercial use. In June/July 2000 MySQL was released under the GPL; before that it was released under a 'Free Public License' that prohibited commercial use without a paid license. So any version older than 3.23.x *does* cost money, but consdering that MySQL AB does not support 3.22 and below, it seems less likely that one would want to use that now.

You can read the license agreement here:
