Typeahead on make/model cond'l value list NAME

I would like for telephone service representatives to be easily able to enter the make and model of certain equipment a customer has when on a call (to check for compatibility). I am working with an existing database where make and model tables have a numerical filemaker-created unique serial number index and ALSO a common alphanumeric name for the product make and model (I am talking about telephones here, so there are many makes and many models).

How can I set up a value list field popup for make, and then a conditional value list popup for model, where 1) the filemaker-created unique serial number field remains key as the entered value in a record showing a particular customer and their telephone make/model, but 2) where the telephone representative can use "type-ahead" on the associated "Name" (for make and model) rather than on the filemaker-created unique serial number ... in order to speed information entry into the database (since the telephone service representatives have no knowledge of the filemaker-created serial numbers)?

This used to be available on FM5 and FM6 but seems to been lost in FM7. It doesnt make any sense to allow value lists to include a second field and allow the value list to be sorted by the second field, but then have the type ahead operate on the first field !

I am stuck on this too ! Help !

I have solved my problem by upgrading from FM7 v 2 to FM7 v 3 using the free download from FM. Seems that it was a known bug in FM7
